No.418 The main gate and grounds at Sengakuji

The main gate was rebuilt during the Tenpo era. In the upper section there is a richly colored statue of the 16 Arhats. An engraved copper dragon is inserted on the ceiling of the lower floor. The temple is home to the graves of the Akoroshi (the 47 ‘ronin’ (masterless Samurai)) and the grave of Naganori Asano. The temple attracts a large number of visitors during the Ako Gishi Sai (a festival) on December 14.
